What Is BattleFy?

Battlefy is an online platform that allows users to create events and play in tournaments or special campaigns for the ultimate esports experience.

With over 70,000 tournaments and a user play a total of 19,543,636 hours as of 2019, Battlefy has grown from a small Vancouver-based startup established in 2012 to a go-to tournament management platform hosting the most prominent esports tournaments to hit our screens.

What Does Battlefy Have to Offer?

Battle offers a host of benefits for both organizers and players alike. Here are a few perks for organizers who choose Battlefy to host their games.

Battlefy has millions of players who are always looking for the next exciting esports out there. This user base is available to organizers as they roll out their tournaments and campaigns, so you don’t have to worry about an audience.

Battlefy offers live support to all its organizers, no matter the size of the organization. So if you have an issue or a query, all you need to do is contact Battlefy support for a quick solution.

Management Tools

Battlefy also provides organizers with tools to manage their tournaments and brand their Battlefy spaces as they see fit. These tools include:

  • Automatic score reporting
  • Tournament and match statistics
  • Cloning flexible brackets
  • Check-Ins

Battlefy users aren’t left out of the fun since the platform offers thousands of competitions every month. There’s also a match page that allows players to openly communicate with each other, schedule and set up tournaments themselves.

Is it Safe?

Yes! Battlefy’s platform is safe to use, especially after implementing Auth0 into their security system. Auth0 eliminates the need for user-private information on the Battlefy database and allows the platform to focus on developing the esports platform.

According to Senior Software Developer Ronald Chen, Battlefy’s user data is “now far more secure” with Auth0 since Battlefy no longer has to store sensitive user information with the platform’s regular data.

How Do Battlefy Tournaments Work?

Battlefy allows organizers to create tournaments using customization tools and host these tournaments on their esports platform.

Once teams or individuals join a tournament, they’re seeded into brackets and compete until the final two face each other.

This type of setup ensures that the highest-ranked team faces the lowest-ranked team, and the tournament continues in that fashion. This is important because teams of higher seeds can stay in the game for a while before they meet a team that can knock them out.

Consequently, players strive for higher seeds making the tournament more competitive and fun.

Creating a Tournament in Battlefy

Before you can create a tournament in Battlefy, you need an organization, the focal point from which you run your tournaments.

Organizations are usually under your name or brand name and allow you to regulate your tournament or assign others to help you run it.

Creating an organization gives you a space on Battlefy where your tournaments and campaigns are listed for players to join. This space is fully customizable.

Now, let’s go through the steps for creating a tournament in Battlefy:

  1. Sign up for a Battlefy account using your social accounts or email address.
  2. Create a password.
  3. Select your timezone and click on “Sign Up.”
  4. Create your organization by clicking on the “New
  5. Organization” tab at the bottom left corner of the user page.
  6. Verify you’re not a robot and complete the details for your organization.
  7. Select “create tournament” on the next interface.
  8. Choose the game you want to create the tournament for and fill out the required fields (tournament name, start date, and start time).
  9. Fill the “how will your players contact you” field and set your social handle.
  10. Publish your tournament or save it as a draft.
  11. You should get a confirmation message saying the process was successful. You can then copy the designated URL and share it with others to promote your tournament.

Note that you’ll have to publish your tournament before other players can join.
