The IGL Company
IGL was founded by a group of passionate gamers who felt that the esports industry in India isn’t getting the recognition it deserves. This is mainly because the profession isn’t viewed as a serious job in India.
The founders of IGL believe that skilled Indian gamers deserve to show their talent and compete in a prestigious gaming league with other pro gamers on a national level.
However, the platform isn’t exclusive to pro players only. Amateur players can join too. The founders think that everyone deserves to get a shot in pro gaming and earn money doing what they love.
The platform’s current primary focus is mobile gaming. Mobile gaming in India was pegged at $1.2 Billion in 2020, which is an impressive figure.
Also, IGL has recently raised $500,000 from Hungama Digital Media Along and Hindustan Talkies. The company will use the funds to integrate more features for the users and boost its user base. Plus, the funds helped the company launch the IGL Championship Cup.
According to Neeraj Roy, founder and chief executive officer of Hungama Digital Media, esports in the gaming industry are growing at a fast pace. He also stated that their goal is to give the platform a better chance to grow and scale.
IGL Championship Cup
In early 2021, IGL announced the launch of the IGL Championship Cup, a competitive pro gaming tournament where players can compete in six game titles.
The first season features two formats: multiplayer and battle royal. Each version has different prize money.
A Look into India’s Gaming Scene
Gaming in India is getting more and more popular each day. Mobile gaming, in particular, is growing quickly, attracting more types of people and age groups.
The number of gamers is undoubtedly on the rise, but it’s not just about the gamers; the number of viewers is growing, too. Many gamers and non-gamers in India are interested in pro gaming leagues and love watching them on a regular basis. This has opened the door for IGL to come to life.
Moreover, the value of the gaming industry in India is expected to increase from INR 43.8 billion to INR 118.8 billion by the year 2023. In other words, the growth rate is expected to be 22.1%.
Game Titles on IGL
There are dozens of games that gamers compete in on the IGL platform. They include:
- Battlegrounds Mobile
- Stumble Guys
- Age of Empires II
- PES 2021 Mobile

Most tournaments on the platform are created separately for each game, but some of them contain more than one game to make things more interesting.
